Reviews for Abner…
- Meet Abner -
Liam Abner is a Denver native. He has been chasing the stage since before he could drive, and has no intention of stopping. He performs across the western half of the United States, as both a magician, and entertainer. Each and every audience tends to remember his “off the beaten path” style. Guests who consider themselves well-acquainted with the art of magic will find, rather to their surprise, that they have not seen anything quite like him before. Off stage he writes short stories, mysteries, and comedy; he is the sort of mind that cannot leave a good story or reveal untold. His performances are as much about the laughter as the impossible, because his style is not just magic but rather quick wit and cunning design formulating truly carefully constructed conjuring.
Abner’s not quite pearly whites have appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us. As well as… FOX, ABC and CBS. The world's foremost organizations in magic have seen fit to give him their presidential certifications, and gold medal’s for unique and introspective performances. Most recently, Liam took home first prize at Tannen's Walk-Around Competition.. after a multi-round elimination. From the Rockies to the Redwoods and stages a good deal further, the art of entertainment grasped hold of Liam Abner some time ago, and has not reconsidered since.
The Process
-
*Booking Abner for your private event in Denver or the mountain towns, is simple: fill out the form or send an email, and it takes about two minutes. Let us know the date, the venue, roughly how many people will be there, and what kind of event you're planning; corporate party, trade show, product launch, holiday gathering, whatever it is. From there, Abner starts putting together a show built around your event instead of a one-size-fits-all routine.*
-
*Liam typically follows up within 24 hours to schedule a call. This is a conversation to get the best idea of what will work for your event, not a sales pitch. He wants to know what the night is supposed to feel like and what success looks like for you. From there he can tell you exactly what kind of performance makes sense, whether that's mingling magic during a cocktail hour, a stage set after dinner, or some sort of custom combination.*
-
*After the initial discovery call, Abner will send you a brief email detailing everything you chatted about on the call. Whether you love it or decide it’s not the right direction for your event he takes time to walk you through each possibility. He'll confirm details in advance, arrive early, and take care of the rest. Your job is to enjoy your own party if booked! Guests will be asking who booked the entertainment. Take all of the credit, that part's up to you!*

The amount of years someone has in the game matters, along with how passionate they sound about it. A high value magician shouldn't come across as too money driven, and should be excited to work with you to make your event the best and most custom it can be. TV credits and lots of photos don't hurt either.
-
Popular dates, especially weekends in peak seasons like the holidays and summertime can book up months in advance. Reaching out as early as possible is recommended, though last-minute availability is sometimes possible depending on the date. Abner posts a end of year blog predicting the next year’s busy dates based on the volume of requests from the past year. Check that for more information!

At weddings, magic works well during cocktail hour, keeping guests entertained while photos are taken or the reception is set up. At corporate events, walk-around magic breaks the ice at networking functions, energizes trade show booths, or adds a memorable moment to an awards dinner or holiday party. Performances are typically close-up and interactive, moving from group to group throughout the room.
-
Magic fits nearly any gathering where people are mingling: weddings, corporate parties, birthdays, bar and bat mitzvahs, holiday parties, and private house parties. It works especially well for events where guests don't already know each other, since it gives people something to talk about and breaks up the room naturally.

Typically, half of the payment is required upon contract signature, and the other half is paid before the event, either on the day of or anytime leading up to the performance. Cancellations are avoided; rescheduling and working together to find a solution that works for both parties is always the approach. In the case of a hard cancellation, this can be done up to 15 days before the event, though any deposit put down will be forfeited.
